This latest volume in the Frick Diptych series focuses on Monet’s Vétheuil in Winter, painted during one of the coldest winters on record in France—and one of the bleakest chapters in the artist’s life. An insightful and engaging essay by Susan Grace Galassi, curator emerita at The Frick Collection, is paired with a text and new work by renowned artist Olafur Eliasson. His Colour experiment no. 109 (2020)—a response to Monet’s Vétheuil in Winter—will be displayed alongside the Impressionist work at Frick Madison in the fall of 2022.
